About
23 Oddcats
Born and raised in India, currently based out of New Jersey, moved here from Oakland in 2018. Been exposed to diverse music since childhood and hence been making music most of my life. Currently I make and play experimental bass music, which I have also coined as Rhythm & Slime. My venture into bass music started as Karma thieves back in 2015 which gave way to my side project as Barefoot. After taking a little time off, in 2018 I started experimenting with newer music production styles which I felt didn’t fit into Karma thieves or Barefoot. Eventually I rebranded myself as 23 Odd Cats in March 2019. My current musical inspirations are artists like Eazybaked, Milano, Player Dave, Supertask, Adiios, Moniker, illGates etc., My roots are based in heavy metal bands so Iron Maiden, Metallica and RATM are always my go to for getting inspiration for some dope bass and drum patterns but I also grew up listening to a lot of Indian musicians like A.R.Rahman, Bally Sagoo, Ilayaraja and so on. I have had the pleasure to play alongside some really talented musicians over the course of the last few years such as Supertask, NastyNasty, Yheti, Bleep bloop, Shlump, Sayer, JordnMoody, Episcool, Tape B, Moniker, Adiios, Edekit, PartyWave, Milano, Suds, Blaow, Wasteurself, Uknwn, Umm.., Runnit, Gurf, Kurei, Xtals, Diceman, Gspace and many more. I have also been fortunate enough to play some of my favorite stages at festivals like Big Dub Emissions, Stilldream, Raindance, Organic Fest, Element festival, Yonderville, Symbiosis and WoahMan festival. So from 23 Odd cats you can expect a lot of wubby experimental weird bass tunes with a healthy dose of melodies. This year you can expect some festival appearances and local tristate area gigs, and a whole lot of fun little collabs with friends and peers!
